Synopsis: Poet On A String, is inspired by the real life poet Delmore Schwartz, his wife, the writer Gertrude Buckman and poet, screenwriter and film critic James Agee, and a weekend they spent together in Frenchtown, NJ in the summer of 1939 on the eve of WW2. The play captures the moment when film overtakes poetry and literature in the American culture as the dominant power in art and understanding and the consequences felt in our world today.
