Playwriting for Social Change Festival
Acts of BREAKING SILENCE
Sargent Theatre
July 15-19, 2026
Returning for its second year, HoneyVic Productions’ Playwriting for Social Change Festival presents Acts of Breaking Silence. Silence is a system — one that decides which truths stay buried, which questions go unasked, and which roles we play just to be accepted.
Acts of Breaking Silence is a collection of four short plays that push back against that system. Spanning mental illness in the Black community, homelessness and human dignity, the long shadow of racial injustice, and fear as a tool of control, these works use intimate storytelling and vivid allegory to explore what we carry when we stay quiet.
At the center of each play is a breaking point — a moment when silence finally gives way and characters are forced to choose between the safety of what’s known and the risk of telling the truth. Taken together, they ask audiences a single, urgent question: what does it actually take to break a cycle that was never meant to be broken?
