Synopsis:

Set against the backdrop of the 1968 Vietnam War, Home is Sweet Sorrow is a powerful drama exploring the ruinous impact of war on American families. Following the stories of PFC Willie Taylor, who loses his soul to the violence of the Vietnam jungle, and PFC Jamie Lofton, who is destroyed by the secret war he fights within himself, the play uncovers the devastating consequences of silence and prejudice. Their mothers fight desperate, personal battles to save the “honor” of their sons.
This play is the third installment of Thomspon-Scretching’s ‘The Blood Trilogy’ which follows a Black American family from the 1940’s Georgia, up-South to Brooklyn in the 1960’s.
